Porto

Kelly and I went on a trip to Porto in March. We were blessed with great weather for exploring such a beautiful city.

The interior of Livraria Lello, its stained-glass ceiling above two floors of crowded wooden book galleries.
The carved ceiling and curving central staircase inside Livraria Lello, busy with visitors.
A derelict stone building covered in graffiti, its windows boarded and grass growing through the path in front.
Brightly painted houses stacked above a stepped alleyway, with washing hung out to dry between them.
A view across Porto's terracotta rooftops towards the hills, with a construction crane on the skyline.
A tall, narrow townhouse faced with patterned azulejo tiles, washing strung across its windows.
A panorama across Porto's rooftops with the Clérigos bell tower rising in the centre. A red telephone box on a street lined with tiled buildings and green wrought-iron balconies. Trays of olives in a market display, each with a handwritten yellow price label. A greengrocer's stall in a covered market, crates of tomatoes and greens stacked at the front. Shoppers browsing a covered fruit market, bunches of bananas hanging above the stalls.
A narrow cobbled street between stone buildings, with a white car parked at the kerb.
Porto's Ribeira waterfront seen from across the Douro, its colourful houses rising up the hillside. Traditional rabelo boats moored on the Douro beneath the ironwork of the Dom Luís I bridge. A terrace of tall, narrow houses painted blue, orange and yellow against a deep blue sky. Looking across the Douro to the far bank, with a domed monastery on the hilltop. A red and yellow corner building on a small square, with café umbrellas set out below.
A tall red and ochre building on the corner of a cobbled square, with people walking past.
A stone monument at the centre of a formal garden square, with people sitting out on the grass.
A stone war memorial topped by a soldier, with visitors gathered at its base on patterned paving.
A bicycle propped against a lamp post in front of a heavily graffitied wall.
A tall corner building hung with painted advertising signs, above a cobbled square.
